What Kalypso Island is

Kalypso is an ongoing regenerative project built around the idea of learning by doing.

Instead of following a fixed model, the space evolves gradually through observation, experimentation, and collaboration. Permaculture principles, natural building techniques, and simple living practices guide the development of the land and daily life.

Everything here is in progress — and shaped by the people who participate in it.

The Land

Kalypso covers approximately 1.5 hectares, divided into four main areas:

Bamboo & permaculture forest

Around 1 hectare dedicated to bamboo, fruit trees, native species, and future natural building materials such as cob and other earth-based structures.

Experimental garden (“the rock farm”)

A developing growing space focused on soil regeneration, water management, and long-term food production systems.

Vegetable & future animal area

A small garden area dedicated to seasonal vegetables, with a future chicken space focused on eggs and companionship rather than meat production.

Living space

The main home is located about 4 km from the farm (15 minutes by bike or 7 minutes by car), where daily life, meals, and shared time take place.

The space is shared with four dogs, and sometimes local strays are fostered and cared for.

Animals are part of everyday life here, contributing to the rhythm of the land and the sense of connection within the space.
